Description:   Storytelling and Ballad Singing in Suzhou Dialect is a popular performing art in south of Yangtze River, it has a history of more than 400 years, originated in Suzhou, a beautiful water town. It is usually performed in the tea house, now it is also performed in theater, on TV and radio. It tells stories in ballad singing while playing the string instruments, Xiao Sanxian (3 string) and Pipa (4 string). There are three styles: one, two, or three performers. The two ladies in the painting are wearing blue Qipao with embroidery flowers, sitting on chairs with a table in between them. A tea pot, two tea cups, a flower vase and a folding fan (a stage property) are on the table decorated with phoenix and peony tapestry. The signature and chop of the artist are at the lower right corner. This painting won the 3rd award in the Tenth Session of "Spring South of the Yangtze River" Art Exhibition of Shanghai.
